What To Expect At The Atom Panopticon
Hi. My name is Brandon Blake. I’ll be writing on faith and it’s intersection with politics. I come from a Kuyperian point of view-a sphere-sovereignty position. While I will not always be focusing on that political philosophical framework itself, the writing itself, will, needless to say, come from that position (I believe that we in fact do not and cannot come from some ahistorical unbiased position). While I will talk about issues other than faith and politics (and their intersection), I will also be writing about social issues, ie., same-sex marriage, racial questions, liberalism, conservatism, China and/or world events, etc. I will also be recommending books and possibly reviews of said books. I suppose one could say that talking about these issues above IS talking politics but I consider some of those issues to be more social in nature. Again, all of these will come from my particular bent.
I don’t consider myself to be a “the professional” on these matters…however…my thoughts have come from my interaction with the professionals via their works I’ve read, whether in print or magazines or journals, etc. I consider myself not to always be “settled” in my thinking on many of these questions and at times, I find myself “going back to the drawing board” so-to-speak. For the most part though, I’m pretty setttled. “Settled with an openness” if you would like to say.
Besides writing, I will put up links and quotes to some of my favorite authors and professors and writings. And for now, I will be writing once a week—mostly posting on the weekends.
Lastly, I look forward to your feedback. Feedback “gets the juices flowing” as well as gives me a chance for interaction with readers (back in the early 2000’s I used to be on these theological debate boards started by Pastor Greg Boyd [The Open Theism Boards] and the interaction was AMAZING). There is nothing like it. I like it more than writing itself. I really want to hear what you have to say and contribute to my thinking and the discussion as a whole.
